First Contact Physiotherapy

The role of First Contact Physiotherapists (FCPs) in Primary Care is to assess patients with soft tissue, muscle and joint pain and to decide on the most appropriate management pathway. FCPs are physiotherapists with expertise in the assessment and management of Musculoskeletal (MSK) conditions.

Examples of the conditions a FCP can see are:

- all soft tissue injuries
- sprains, strains or sports injuries
- arthritis – any joint
- possible problems with muscles, ligaments, tendons or bone, e.g. tennis elbow, carpal tunnel syndrome, ankle sprains
- Spinal pain including lower back pain, mid-back pain and neck pain
- Spinal-related pain in arms or legs, including nerve symptoms, e.g. pins and needles or numbness
- Post-orthopaedic surgery

The FCP may give advice or exercises, refer on for further physiotherapy treatment, request investigations or refer to a specialist if indicated.

The Practice Business Manager is responsible for ensuring that the business is run in an efficient manner to continue to achieve excellent clinical and business objectives in a safe and effective working environment

They oversee and coordinate practice services, contracts and financial performance, working with colleagues in the Primary Care Network, GP Federation and Clinical Commissioning Group and will provide effective, clear and conscientious leadership to the Practice Team, promoting collaborative working between all team members and with patients.

Training practice

We are a training practice for fully qualified doctors to gain experience and higher qualifications in general practice and family medicine. There will therefore, on many occasions, be an additional doctor available for consultation.

You will always be told if a student is to be present at your consultation, and given the option to decline if you wish.

GP net earnings

All GP practices are required to declare the mean earnings (i.e. average pay) for GPs working to deliver NHS services to patients at each practice.

The average pay for GPs working in Henley-in-Arden Medical Centre in the last financial year was £56,621 before Tax and National Insurance. This is for 0 full time GPs, 6 part time GPs and 0 locum GPs who worked in the practice for longer than six months.
