Named Accountable GP for All Patients
The Practice is required by the Government under the terms of the latest GP Contract to allocate all patients (including children) a named accountable GP. This GP has responsibility for the coordination of all the appropriate services required under the Contract and ensure that they are delivered to each of their patients when required, based on the GP’s clinical judgement.
For convenience your named accountable GP will be the name doctor you are registered with.
If you wish to be told the name of your accountable GP, please ask the receptionists when you are next in the surgery. Please inform us if you wish to change your accountable GP.
It is important that you are aware that this is a purely administrative exercise and does not change the way in which we operate, nor does it affect your treatment or care at the Practice and you can continue to see any GP of your choice as usual.
Having a named GP does not prevent you seeing any other doctor in the practice. Your named GP will not be available at all times, and if your needs are urgent, you will need to discuss them with an alternative doctor.
Last year, a named GP was allocated for patients aged 75 and over and if you are in this age group, your named GP will remain the same.
You do not need to take any further action but if you have questions, or wish to discuss this further, please ask reception when you are next at the Surgery.
